Hansen's does a good job on wash and fold at a great price.  I hate doing laundry period.  There is only one washer & dryer in my building, it costs $4 / load plus detergent to do it myself, and it takes me hours to do a week's worth of laundry.  For only a bit $$ more, I can drop it off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon.  Talk about a deal and a time saver.

Only caveat:  they dry things on super high, so don't give them any delicate garments or stuff at risk of shrinking.  I learned the hard way.

Hansen's has changed my life! Once I discovered that I could take our laundry to this friendly and efficient establishment, and pay only minimally more than the coin laundry (after you account for all of the quarters and washing supplies...not to mention TIME!!!!!), it has no become part of our routine! I don't let them do my delicates, or fleeces (that may shrink, as they dry on high there, i think) but let them do everything else and have been only happy! How wonderful it is that everything is pressed to flat that it finally fits in the drawers with room to spare!!! Thanks, Hansen's!!! We'll miss you when we one day get a washer/dryer set of our own!!!

BEWARE!  Do not trust the overly complimentary reviews here, like I did!

I can't even comprehend the horrible experience that I just had with Hansen's.

Firstly, I went two days after they told me that my dry cleaning and pressed items would be ready, only to have them search all over the store in vain and then tell me to come back tomorrow for my pressed shirts. While I was there inspecting my dry cleaning during the 10-plus minute search, I noticed several obvious brown spots still on my white sweater.  After pointing this out to the Chen up front (ear-guy), he asked me if I wanted to have it sent back.  I told him I'd rather not trust his dry cleaners again.  He then proceeded to charge me full price.  The only reason I paid (stupidly, now as it appears) is because he was still holding my pressed shirts ransom.

So, returning the next day (3 days after I was promised my shirts would be available), my shirt was missing!  He showed me the claim slip, which did read 6 although we had dropped off 7 (my Ann Taylor blouse being the 7th).  I felt immediately like an idiot for trusting him to write the number down on the claim slip without reviewing it with me.  BE SURE NOT TO MAKE THIS MISTAKE!  However, upon telling him that I was absolutely certain that I had left my blouse with him, he shrugged me out of the store.  So, I proceeded to call my boyfriend to check my closet - giving him the benefit of the doubt - to ensure that the blouse was indeed at the cleaners.  He specifically remembered handing the shirt to Chen, as well.  So, he gave Chen a call to let him know this, only to receive the same rude, responsibility-dodging attitude.

Finally, we realized that on the shirts that we had received back from those liars, they had written all over the tags of every single shirt my boyfriend's name!  We, of course, rang him back to further complain, only to be told that all cleaners do that.  Is this true?  DO ALL CLEANERS DEFACE PRIVATE PROPERTY?!!
I have never had such a terrible experience.  I am absolutely livid at the nerve of the the very worst cleaners I have ever had the misfortune to trust my items of clothing to.

I hope they close.

After all the awesome reviews on Yelp, we decided to check this place out.

BIG F*ING MISTAKE.

We dropped off several different types of clothing:
1. Regular laundry
2. Shirts needing to be pressed
3. Dry cleaning

The regular laundry was ready before the pressed shirts/dry clean only stuff, and picking it up was no problem, however the shirts had severely faded from when we had dropped them off initially.  This wasn't that big of a deal.. believe me, the worst is yet to come.

So we walk all the way over there the day the shirts/dry cleaning was supposed to be ready and were informed that "oh... sorry, the shirts are not ready yet.  My bad."  Yes, your bad indeed. We proceeded to walk all the way back home, disillusioned and a bit confused (especially after reading all these RAVE reviews).

Here is the icing on the cake: when we returned to pick up the shirts today, they had LOST my girlfriend's Ann Taylor blouse (not cheap), then were complete dicks about it when we tried to ask where it was.  They tried to cover it up by claiming that they never received it and didn't want to work with us at all.  To top it off, they got ball point pen ink all over the collars of my 6 shirts I picked up.  APPALLING!

NEVER USE THIS PLACE! EVER!
*GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I hate laundry. My boyfriend hates it even more. So on laundry days (usually weekends), we usually (a) fight over whose turn it is (b) bribe the other or (c) just don't do it until there's nothing to wear to work anymore. Yeah,  so, we're that bad.

So this weekend when he came up with the idea of outsourcing our laundry, I couldn't be happier. YES! Our lazy selves loved the feeling of just dropping off all our dirty clothes to Hansen's and coming back a few hours later with all our clothes washed, dried, neatly folded, stacked and wrapped in a brown bag. Perfectly folded shirts, matching socks folded together, towels rolled, all without slaving away for hours...Ahh, this is the life.....

I honestly don't care about the prices much since I'm just glad to be able to get rid of laundry chores. However, it's a welcome bonus that the prices are very very reasonable at Hansen's (less than $1 per lb). The family who runs it is also very nice and professional. They were able to finish our big load in just a few hours. After discovering this little gem of wash-and-fold greatness, we would definitely be using their laundry services from now on. Happy happy joy joy! :)

Thrilling.
Minus 1 star for not telling me about the 10-lb minimum. Not so nice, guys.
And then back goes the star when I finally notice the sign on the wall specifying a 10 lb. minimum.

How can wash-and-fold be considered a luxury when it only costs $2 more than doing it myself?!  It is *so* wonderful that I no longer have to spend three hours at the coin-op and then still not have my jeans be dry! I cannot explain exactly how great the folks (The Chens) at Hansen's are, or how happy I am with them, or how grateful I am to them.  They always return my laundry perfectly, with no mysterious missing socks, ever, and they are incredibly friendly and remember that I like it when they use fabric softener and I don't even have to remind them.   One super-helpful guy even helps me carry my (lots) of laundry to the car -- how sweet!  Rah rah Hansen's!

So, Yelp tells me there's a place where I can, cheaply, get finished laundry done by a couple of really nice people. Naturally I'm going to try it out.

I'll take this opportunity to point out something important to this story that will certainly increase the impact of my review (it may also scare away all the women I should ever hope to date in the city):

Fact: I had not done laundry but for once since I moved out here two MONTHS ago. That's right; recycled drawers; week-old socks; jeans worn yet-another-day after already having three weekends of nightclub abuse.

You can start your cringing now.

(In my defense I work a lot of hours and rarely have time to think straight let alone do laundry.)

The point of this disgusting detail is that everything I owned clothing-wise needed some serious love. That's a lot of laundry. A whole basket, heaping full, plus.

Even with the nice claims made here, I expected to pay for the luxury of not having to do this myself (or even fold the clothes). So imagine my surprise when the nice Mrs. Chen said "16.80".

SEVENTEEN BUCKS. (Less!)

I gave her a 20, said keep the change, and danced my smiling ass past the bears and the daddy bars to my car.  I will forever take my laundry all the way from Hayes to the Castro for this place.

But if you all rush in there and they raise the rates or I can't get in I'll shank you. I mean it!

A true testament to the awesomeness of Yelp -- as an SF n00b I never had to bother with rip-off wash 'n' folds, and have yet to lose as much as a sock. Hansen's does rule andn is the best wash/fold service I've used in several cities worldwide in my years of utter laziness and shitty t-shirt folding abilities. Hey, time is money, right?

NOTE: I've been told I should clarify that this 5-star review is based solely on my experience with Hansen's wash/fold service... I have never used them for pressing or dry cleaning.

I love them!!!!!I only use dry cleaning , shirt washing/starch/pressing and altering service. They get it done in 3 days if i need it- hubby went out of the us for 2 weeks and i had forgotten to drop of the shirts.....They help me to the car and the price is always ok. Don't know if we miss a shirt or not. I never count and if i bring them 30-40 shirts, pants and staff- who cares.

What I like about Hansen's...

- Fair prices
- Nice people
- Their presses don't beat the shit out of my clothes (at other places, my new shirts look weathered pretty fast.
- They don't destroy my buttons
- The collars on my shirts (where the top button closes) is nice and straight.  Most places leave creases or folds and the bottoned-up look needs to be crisp.

Yay, Hansens!

This place is incredible. It's so reasonably priced, the people are so nice, and my clothes come back perfect every time. But I mean, no, it's horrible, don't come here and discover my favorite place ever.

Not the closest laundry to my house but I travel because they are fantastic.  Two weeks worth of laundry only cost me $20.  Everything comes back folded looking like a stack of library books in neat little bundles.  Love this place!

I am pretty sure that it is cheaper for Hansen's to do my laundry than for me to pump quarters into the overpriced cheap-ass machine at my building. (Behind which I once spied a used syringe next to a wad of peanut butter on a RAT trap. I think the rat might have been more hard core than we suspect.)

And my panties? Well, they are clean without the fear of Hepatitis.

I admit, I'm hooked.  After saying I'd "never" send my laundry out, I have in fact become a Hansen's convert.  Totally reasonable rates, quick turnaround times... and I would never be able to fold my laundry that neatly and compactly.

Don't let white shirt guy put you off, this place is amazing.

I walked in slightly nervous because I had never gotten my laundry done by someone else before, and the outside of it looks shady as heck. Their store sign is made out of cardboard, and looks like either a really really fancy homeless person's sign, or the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign your 8 year old made for you. My mood was brightened by the orchids in the window, though.

I had 4 huge loads of laundry to be done, dropped them off at noon and they were ready by 6 ($22!! omg ch33p!!). It was like xmas all over again, coming home and unwrapping my goodies. Perfectly folded, with a very faint scent of soap. Mostly they smelled like nothing. THEY EVEN FOLDED ME PANTIES.

There were a couple of vintage shirts in there from my mom. One shirt, which is like older than me but I still love it, had these weird yellowy deodorant stains on it that I couldn't bleach out because the shirt itself was purple. Miraculously, like Jesus, these stains faded considerably while the shirt was in their care. Hell yeah!

But anyways, white shirt guy was way too harsh. I'm thinking he's some high-power business dude who never worked a day of retail in his life, and expects everyone below him in status to work PERFECTLY, every day at every moment, like some sort of mystical robot from the future.  You either get 5 stars or no stars from that guy, there's no in between. I loathe to deal with these people at my work, so let's all be glad he doesn't bother these nice people anymore. More perfect laundry for us!

This place is amazing, very reasonably priced, they do a great job, can't recommend them enough.

No more crappy coin-ops for me, its wash&fold all the way from now on. I can't believe i wasted hours at the laundromat dealing with morons and their tons of ugly laundry. All in the past now, thanks to this place. Drop it off in the morning on the way to work, done by the next morning, totally sweet!

I hate doing laundry.  And now I don't need to.  This place has wash 'n fold for a very, very good price.  Often, it's just about how much I have to pay for the coin operated machines in my apartment complex.  The difference is that here, they fold it for you and all.  Total mom and pop place.  They're friendly, fast and reasonably priced.  Got a hole in a pocket of your jeans?  They can take care of that too.  Cheap, quick and good.  Can't beat it.

I hate doing laundry. I'd rather clean out the cat boxes, do the scariest dishes, mop floors, clean that bathroom from Trainspotting (ok, maybe not that one) or floss someone else's teeth. You get the idea. Hate the laundry. Took hombre's and my umpteen tons of laundry to Hansen's last Saturday, picked everything up on Monday afternoon.
The guy at the counter was nice enough to carry the majority of the laundry out to my car cause I look like a dumbass when I try to be macho. And he complimented my excellent parking spot out front.

Incredibly kind, helpful people, our clothes are spankin' clean, cat-hair free (thank gawd, those little furry fucks are driving me bananas!) and the price was well worth the exceptional, fast service. Yay Hansen's!

FYI -
1. Parking's particularly brutal in this neighborhood, you've got to be a lucky bitchola like me. Or ride up on your horse or spaceship.
2. Hansen's is closed on Sunday's.
3. Not sure if you have to sort everything beforehand, but I did anyway.

Hansens's rocks! Totally saved some valuable cashmere with little fuss. Very friendly and fast turnaround. Oh, and did I mention totally reasonable prices! Wow, I was astounded.

Please note, however, that they only take cash.

If I could, I'd give it 6 stars.

And the family who runs the place? Not the Hansen's but rather the Chen's.

I love these guys.

Even though there are laundry places closer to my house, it is always worth it to drive over to Hansen's.

Their Wash-and-Fold is the best I've tried.  Laundry comes back perfectly folded, ironed, wrapped in brown paper like little gifts.  And at 70 cents a pound, I'll never go to a laundromat again.

a brown paper package, tied up with string, is definitely one of my favorite things- especially  when it contains all my clean, pristine hansen-washed laundry. a true luxury in life. although i always feel guilty about driving the car to get my laundry done. . . anyway, as far as i have found 65 cents a pound is the best deal in town. pretty quick turnaround for now, until they get too popular, so shhhhhhh.
