I don't care that they forgot our nachos and that we had to argue to get them.  This place rocks.  Great simple food...

My only complaint was that it was kinda pricey...$20 for a 4 piece chicken meal and nachos...

Everybody loves good grilled chicken and this place has got it in spades. It's hard to beat this easy take out place for the quality and price. I love the chicken and the large selection of side dishes. Occasionally the side dishes taste old (plantains) and the chicken can be a little dry, but I still enjoy take out from here. The salsa is good too.

I've been coming since it was Pollo Supremo and there was no change in quality or selection when it became La Parilla Grill. You can't go wrong coming here when you need quick take out that can last a few days.

Super yummy and worth the $! I've been craving their shrimp quesdillas (chicken is good, but I recommend the shrimp) horchata (I love sweeeet drinks, a cinnamon sugar drink) and def. the fried yuccas! If you go and don't have the yuccas, you're missing out! I don't know what everyone is talking about the slow service, I thought it was fine as long as you know what you want :)

You know what's better than McDonalds fries from the 70's?

Fried yucca!

It's like the old school animal fat fried, buttery french fry, but bigger, deffer, and extremely bitching!  I'm sure it's not good for you, but it's taste is definately worth the harm.

BTW... the chicken is fantastic.  It's broiled to perfection, juicy, and cheap (basically it's El Pollo Loco rebadged chicken!) But seriously, that fried yucca kicks some super serious ass!

Now they need to serve fried apple pies.

Is it possible to judge a piece of chicken by its skin?
They get the seasoning just right but the method of cooking (grilling) runs the risk of overcooking it and it's just what they did with mine. All 4 pieces. Granted, the seasoning on the skin sort of salvaged the meal--but nonetheless it was disappointingly dry. The inner part of the meat wasn't too bad. My two sides included a small cup filled with moro rice (black rice 'n beans), crisp and tasty yucca fries (plaintains) with an oily garlic dip and a handful of flour tortillas for good measure. The menu is huge and you can even check it out online. Due to a vast array of choices, a return visit is in the works...

I ordered a whole chicken because of the receipt I got from safeway on 16th. The deal was buy one whole chicken and 2 drinks and get another chicken for free. Well when I got to the cash register I searched and guess what....I FORGOT THE MOTHER$$$$$$$))(I)O$J@# coupon. I was royally pissed. But anyhoo, I just went ahead and paid for the whole thing in cash. The tortillas were nothing to write home about, THINK of hard tortillas that needed extra steaming to make them pliable...in the least. The three stars actually go to the moist, tender and juicy chicken with the lightly seasoned skin. It was a hit at home. Now filipino's just eat this with rice and atchara (carrot salad) and dip the chicken in like a lemon, vinegar dipping sauce.

Now I came here around 3:30 pm and the chicken was actually cooked fresh. Maybe timing is of the essence to get the good fresh chicken, because there is no way in living hell I was going to pay for old AZZ dry chicken. If I wanted that I'd buy FOODSCO baked chicken.   SO for this first time at La Parilla it was a good experience, hopefully the next time I come back, I'll remember my coupon and have another good experience.

They also have...
spanish rice, fried Yucca (think of a fried starch thicker than a potato), corn, coleslaw, bbq sauce, salads, sandwiches and burritos.

We got there around 8:00 pm. Ordered  two- 2 piece combo plates. Chicken was dry and on the verge of cold. The corn tortillas smelled like lime (cal), and they were cracked and broken. The whole beans had a funny metallic taste to them. Fried Yucca was the only thing that kept me from giving them a 1.  I paid extra for a chicken breast and got two legs and a thigh. The servers were courteous and the ladies were nice.

Slow as hell ("Cooked to order")

But the burritos are massive, meats are fresh cooked. But the yucca fries are stupendous. Golden salted perfectly fried.

This place hovers just below the 4 star mark for me. Maybe because back when it was El Pollo Supremo the chicken literally made me quiver. It has changed hands at least twice now and something is different maybe the marinade. The chicken is still very very good (not quite super) as is the yucca and plantains. This is hands down one of my favorite meals and La Parilla does a very good job. Ask for extra salsa when you order, they will only give you one small container for the 2 or 4 piece combos.

I give this a 4.5

The best thing is the chicken. You'll know once you try it. Fried yuca and platanos are good too. They have tostones, fries, sandwiches and burritos, theyre huge! And aguas frescas.

This chicken is greasy, cheap, and delicious.  Just the way I like it.  The potato salad was top notch but the refried beans weren't.

I love nasty fried chicken and this place did an acceptable job of delivering.  I will definitely come back to this place.

Oh my freakin' god the burritos here are heavy on the rice and cheese, I could barely get through a quarter of it without getting a stomach ache. I don't recommend them unless you want to deal with the repurcussions days later. Not cool.

Do make sure to get the tostones (plantains with sour cream on the side), the grilled chicken, and the fried yucca is the just the tastiest snack ever! But here is the best part, $1.50 for wine or beer.

Awesome chicken super burritos!  Every Tuesday I have a meeting in the Mission, and I stop by for my trusty burrito.  Not only is it tasty, but it's gigantic...gigantic enough to fill my extremely gigantic appetite.

They pretty much have anything else you might want...fried plantains, fried yucca...and the the service is so friendly that they might even fry up an entire chicken if you asked...or maybe not.

Fantastic chicken - a billion times better than KFC or Church's.  They do charbroiled (grilled) chicken that has been marinated in a secret garlicky sauce that makes the chicken unbelievably flavorful.  You can order a meal for yourself, OR, if you need to feed a crowd, take advantage of their Meal Deals.  We ordered a 16 piece meal that came with four sides (your choice of beans, rice, sweet or savory plantains, boiled or fried yucca, salads, corn on the cob, or fries) and corn tortillas and salsa for only $28.99!

This location is in one of the best parts of the Mission - on the corner of 24th and Folsom.  They are a great alternative to other fast foods.  You can't miss it...just follow your nose!

What a deal!  The 8 piece meal comes with eight delectably marinated, juicy pieces of charbroiled meat with lots of good charred pieces along with tortillas, two sides (had the Spanish rice and black beans), and salsa all for a low, low price of $16.  My boyfriend and I seriously have hollow legs but even we couldn't finish the spread.  This place is what El Pollo Loco should strive to be.

I agree with bernadeezy, too, that the neighborhood is cool.  Love the tree-line sidewalks.  And if I weren't so bloated when I left, I would've strolled over to the Mexican bakery across the way to check out the sweets there.

As a vegetarian, it's often hard to find authentic and tasty Mexican food where the beans are not cooked with lard, and the rice is not cooked with chicken stock (old-school stylie). However, I always know I can count on La Parilla to serve up some decent veggie beans and rice. A little more flavor in the beans is in order, but overall, decent and clean food for a relatively low price. I'll be back again.

this is one of those experiences you'd only find in this country.  a Mexican restaurant that offers a delightful mix of entrees from south of the border along with fries and aguas frescas.  i love it!  you can get roasted chicken with a side of Spanish rice, fried yucca, three kinds of refried beans, salad and even a baked potato!  this is cultural mixture at its best!
