Pizza...GREAT!...basil, tomato, cheese, awesomeness...mmmmm
Service, great...nice guys in the restaurant. Guys at the counter...all business...hmmm. Not gonna mess with that. They can act however they want with pizza like that.
I drank soda out of a can...I was fine. My wife drank water out of a glass. Let's just say she had a hard time making it back over the bay bridge...I'm hoping it was an off night...but she was really, really sick....

Before we moved from the tender nob to the sunset, Victors was at least a weekly delivery. Always solid for a late night grind. You know you are a regular when we would go to the restaurant with by folks to dine, and they call us by our address instead of our names. Their meatball sandwiches are perfect and melty. My favorite dish is the pesto tortalini or chicken picatta. I miss you Victors.

I've been going to Victor's since before most of y'all were born--since I was a college-kid fag hag in the early Seventies and my gay male friends and I used to spend our weekend nights on Polk Street (before the Castro was, well, the Castro). Victor's was a staple. Not the greatest, but pretty darn good and, most important, had an almost palpable old-timey Italian pizzeria vibe. Open late and dependable and a Polk Street institution. I'm glad they're still around, and I'll keep eating their pizza until one of us kicks.
This pizza sucks, I don't get the good reviews. This pizza is about as East Coast as Hawaii, it was overcheesed, undersauced, and bland.
I don't understand why pizza just sucks here.
Great NY style pizza and it's cheap!
Need I say more? How about this:
They sell by the slice and they're open late!!
The place is pretty cool too because if you dare to dine in, there is great people watching. Drunks, homeless, hipsters, crazies and trannies!
Seriously, this place is pretty good.

OMG, my friends LOOOOOVE Victors. We ate there, sat in the Zona Romantica, and, Meh, I've had better. And, I really, really, really wanted to love it to death, but, still, meh, I've had better.
PLUS, not sure if it was directly the fault of Victor's but, ugh, I had terrible stomach probs for a day or so afterwards.
I don't really think I will ever ever go again.
Sorry guys!
I love this place. The pizza is so delicious. The crust is not to thin and with the right amount of crunch. The calzones are really good too. It can get pretty packed sometimes but I suggest trying a mini calzone. Very filling and delicious.
Good stuff- I had the meat special. I rounded up as I really want to give them a 3.5 star. The crust was a bit burnt.
I regularly get my pies at Vito's- but will likely hit Victor's more.
I have yet to hit Goat hill...but both Vito's and Victor's have nothing on Orgasmica.
I'll be honest, I don't like pizza all that much...especially the NY style. I know it's awful to admit, being a New Yorker. I don't fold my pizza, either.
I DO, however, love Italian food, and have a tendency to always order the same couple things - Eggplant Parmigiana, Penne ala Vodka (impossible to find out here!?), and stuffed shells / manicotti / ravioli.
I have only tried the Eggplant Parm at Victor's, and it is so good I don't think I'll ever even bother with the other stuff. A perfectly filling, juicy portion with just the right amount of cheese and sauce (I don't like TOO much sauce), and it always tastes super fresh.
Num Num NUM!
Next time I'll give the pasta a go, but or now I can say excellent pizza, perfectly thin crispy crust, reasonably priced, prompt service, and good Italian sausage (not those little salty rabbit turds you find at sub-standard pizza joints) so definitely hit this spot when you're in the neighborhood.
If you're long-legged, avoid sitting in the 2-person booths that line the wall on your right as you walk in, your knees'll hit the table leg and your dining partner's.
Charming fake grapes!

Victor's invokes looks of disgust and envy..
Scenario: It's Friday night at around 12am. You are strolling down Polk Street, shoving your slice of Chicken and Garlic Pizza down your throat.. like you haven't eaten in days -- intenseNOMNOMNOM, and you walk:
a) by a crowd of overdressed people.. they stare at you in disgust (mostly from the girls)..
reaction: NOMNOMBITCHES! i would throw this at your hair but it's too tasty!
b) into a crowded bar = OMG.. that smells soooooooo good.
reaction: NOMNOM ALLMINE! (but you can go to Victor's)
Victor's Pizza envy is the best!
In fact, I envy you if you're near there right now. My stomach is gurgling and Victor's is all I can think about. I always think I can eat more slices, but 1 does it for me. Price is reasonable. The crust is perfect and not too thick. Toppings perfect amount, and garlic breath ( = LOVE ).
Future weapon of choice: Garlic Breath.
How: Add as many H's in between words..
Me: WHAAAAT AHHHHRRRRE YOUUUUUU STARING AAAAHTT??
*crying inside* so hungry... *falls over... twitches*

From a New Yorker's perspective: This place has their pizza half right. It's the most important half. This is the half that most pizza places in the city does not get. Because of this, I'm a fan and will probably get pizza from them more often since it's 1. close by and 2. the crust is perfect.
The crust is perfectly New York --- the right crunch, the right flavor, the same char, and it folds perfectly.
Unfortunately, the cheese and the tomato sauce are a bit off and the flavors fall flat. The cheese, in particular, taste like the sort found on cheesy breads in elementary school cafeterias. I agree with a previous reviewer regarding the oregano --- they need to cut down the amount they put in their pies.
The fake plastic grapes, however, are pretty awesome.
****Update****
I had the pizza again and I was pretty disappointed! The crust tasted like every other crust from any other place in San Francisco. Was my first crust a fluke??

Why is it that I've never been here? We knew we wanted pizza but what we didn't know was where we wanted it. Little Star: most likely packed. Paulines: closed on Mondays. Delfina: awesome but mucho bones!
We decided we'd try a local place, Victor's. I've walked by this place so many times I forget that it's there and when I do remember it I think it's Myconos the Mediterranean place a few doors down.
Well I was amazingly surprised! The service was great, the pizza was flavorful (a small was perfect for the two of us) & the chef's salad was crisp and chock full of cheese slices and bits of salami. The price is reasonable and there wasn't a wait at all. I think I've found my new pizza joint well that is unless Little Star isn't packed, Pauline's is open or Delfina lowers their prices!
I really miss living in Nob Hill and eating at / getting delivery from Victor's. Their pizza is the best, and they sell it by the slice, too.
Their fettuccini alfredo is the best I've ever had and the eggplant parm is wonderful, too. You can tell they make everything homemade, from the sauces to the noodles. I agree with a previous poster that their lasagna (the vegetarian, anyway) isn't that great. I'm not sure why, since everything else is amazing. And the meals come with soup or salad, a rarity these days. They get a little heavy-handed with the dressing though, so you may want to ask for it on the side.
This place is old-school and not fancy-schmancy, which I love. I dig any place that has a zillion fake grapes dangling from the ceiling. And it's funny choosing between the dark side with the booths or the brighter (newer?) side of the restaurant.
Note to self: next apartment should be in Victor's delivery zone.

I eat there fairly often - love the Chicken Milanese, the gnocchi, and Victor's Special pizza. And check out Kevin...
Was strongly recommended by a homeless man on the street. Went there and ate a "Victor's Favorite" pie and it was excellent. Would be 5 stars if they also had Bud Light on tap (the only have the heavy duty BUD)
It must be at least 13 years that I've been enjoying Victor's...both eat-in and delivery. Service, quality, value and flavor have been consistently good the whole time. You always know exactly what you're going to get at Victor's, and there's something to be said for that because, when one is ravenously hungry, one is not in the mood for surprises! Try the "Victor's Favorite" pie for meaty goodness, or the spaghetti bolognese with meatballs or sausage for basic, hearty pasta that's enough for two. The rolls are made with the pizza dough and are crunchy on the outside with nooks and crannies begging for butter on the inside. Skip the lasagna, though...too salty and over-oreganoed. Yes, the guys manning the phone are less than charismatic, but delivery is speedy, efficient and reliable, so all's well that ends well.

Good neighborhood pizza joint. Like their over stuffed sausage and mushroom pizza, for a carnivore treat. I heard they may get a little greasy at times so depends on the cook.
There's a booth in Victor's that has been sat in so much that when you lower yourself into the permanent sink-hole in the banquette, you almost feel at one with all the asses of the universe of people who've been there before you. It's alternately very intimate and kind of revolting. I don't think Victor's has done any work or improvements on their interior in decades, and if the lights weren't perpetually dim and one didn't go there at night, they might be really really scared.
Other than its singular atmosphere I also think Victor's has the best take out pizza in the city. I usually walk down and order mine - mushroom and sausage with fresh basil - and find it delicious when I get it home. The quality is superior to other neighborhood pizza places -- when you order a topping you get a lot of it, and everything is fresh.
I also like going there and sitting with a friend over a pitcher and a pie. Despite how crazy busy their take out business is, it's a mellow place to hang out. Just don't walk through the kitchen to use the restroom. Take my advice!

I got a hankering for pepperoni pizza and wanted to avoid ordering an expensive pizza from Extreme, which is conveniently located near my place, but way too mediocre and pricey for this broke-as-f**k girl right now.
We ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and it arrived in, I kid you not, 20 minutes. The pizza was thin crusted and pretty delicious, well balanced (not too topping heavy, which is kind of gross sometimes). Will definitely keep them on my short list of places to order from when I'm too lazy to cook something.

I was there only once, but was very impressed by the quality and fastness of the service, and the yumminess of the pizza, for american standards.
I was in a hurry and looking for a public phone, and one of the waiters let me use his cell phone, incredibly kind! will go back for sure.
Victor's is my second choice for pizza in my hood, Pino's being the first. I don't love either place, though. My main beef with Victor's is the amount of oregano in their sauce. It totally overpowers the pizza. If only something could be done to lure Arinell into the Tenderknob.

I went here with a group of people after volunteering to clean up Polk Street last Saturday - and this place is definitely a find! I've passed this place a hundred million times too going up and down Polk Street in the past. I'll definitely stop by again for some cheese pizza and a Perion Italian beer. Yum! Prices weren't bad either!
This place is a must for late night munchies! He always has the freshest, tastiest cheese pizza in the window for a couple bucks. Good for late night after the bar stomach growls;) Very friendly staff and very quick service. Stop in and grab a slice!

Since my boyfriend is a local (as in born and raised SF, though most of SF are transplants anyway... what's up with that? anyway, i digress) he took me to Victor's after we had lived here a while. His dad lives in the TL and he spent his tender years eating in the "light" side of Victors- aka not the dank, semi-romantic hole on the left side. So, for a twist, we ate in the "dark" side. Mmmmm, the dark side.
Their bread is wonderful. Freshly baked and squishy on the inside just like I likes it. Any of their marinara sauces are also delicious, though if you're picky I'm pretty sure they use low grade ground beef in most of their dishes, so avoid the meat dishes- although, if you miss the cannelloni, well that just sucks for you, cause it's damn good. We brought our own wine and there was a minimal corkage fee.
Then we came here for lunch with his dad and ate on the "light" side. Fun for the whole family!
I really like this place. It's a nice contrast to all the rest of SF's restaurants that
a) are overpriced,
b) spent all their money on decor so go out of business in 6 months,
c) are filled with mindless drones whose shoes cost more than would feed a homeless person for a year
d) hire snooty waitstaff that ignore you
the list goes on...
Victor's is like... a crystal in the rough. I'm giving it 5 stars in my mind, but 3 on Yelp so it doesn't get crowded and yuppified.

Excellent Food! The food was extremely tasty and with prices in line with what most italian places charge.
The garlic cheese bread was too garlicy. I understand it's called "garlic cheese bread" but it was too much. we even had it sent back and the 2nd batch was too much.
Their beer selection isn't very good but the wine selection is nice. They don't offer refills on sodas like Diet Coke but water is plentiful.
Overall, not so bad but the refils policy is kind of a downer.
I don't understand why anyone would order from anywhere other than Victor's. Perfectly thin crust, slightest hint of Italian seasoning and yummy cheesiness. Also very affordable compared to just about any other pizza delivery place in the City.
Oh AND if you dine-in, the restaurant offers a plethora of yummy handmade pastas in a fabulously American-Italian kitsch environment...
highly recommend.

My wife and I went there last night on the way to a show at the Red Devil Lounge. We each got a slice to go, and decided that since the place was only 1/4 full with patrons, we'd just eat the slice there. Well, the guy taking our order was extremely rude about not being able to eat the "to go" pizza in the restaurant. I'm ok with them having a policy, but he was over the top with his attitude. The pizza was ok, but since it had to be reheated it didn't taste that fresh. We left with such a bad taste in our mouths (pun intended) after our encounter with the employee that we will NEVER go back!

Good Pies! I just ordered 6 pizzas for my work crew here for lunch. We ordered 3 specials, 2 sausage and pepperoni, and one Hawaiian. All were delivered. Every one was very good. None were greasy and the crust was New York style....nice and thin. Everyone said it was the best they had from around here (Downtown)...Delivery was pretty fast as well...Good place, we will order from them again...

All the years I've lived in the City, I never tried this place. I've walked by many, many times and wondered if the joint is any good?
On a brisk sunday evening, I finally tried Victor's. My first impression was the smell of the place. A lady sitting one table away from me was wearing some foul smelling perfume. Why is it that good looking chicks usually smell fabulous and old biddies like the one who sat near me can have that offensive odor which makes my eyes water?
Anyway, getting to the pizza. The crust was good, the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I really enjoy Victor's pizza.
I'm not a fan of walking though the kitchen to go to the bathroom, but I was surprised by the cleanliness.
The service was nice and you get refills on your soft drinks. I'll be back...
Unfortunately I wasn't drunk when I visited Victor's. We decided to stay for pasta as we had been staying at the hotel down the street and the place smelled great outside. They cook the pizza in front, and that's what smells so good.
I have NEVER sent my food back other than when I visited this place and ordered the most disgusting fettucini of my life. The sauce tasted like cheese from a can and the pasta wasn't properly cooked (or was of unbelievably poor quality). After sending my plate back, I ordered marinara spaghetti thinking no one could screw that up. I ended up taking it to go and giving it to a homeless man along with an apology for how disgusting it was.
The service was pretty good and they didn't get too pissed off when I sent my food back. The pizza was mediocre and you're better off going a few blocks down to Pino's for a decent slice.... even if you are drunk.
Great place for late night snack after drinks next door at Rouge...but thin crust can never beat thick crust...and seeing your chef so sweaty is not very appetizing....and yes...the cashier is not too nice....if you are open late night, you know you will get the obnoxious drunks....pls still smile at us.
Whoa, this might be it. I've been searching for the best crust and most authentic pizza in the hood...this might be it. This place rocks, son!
Went there last night after hearing so much about the pizza... enjoyed a Greek salad and a pepperoni/mushroom pizza. Big portions for a fair price, and the best crust around! Next test is delivery. God, I hope they deliver to my house.

To quote Randy Jackson from American Idol, "It was just OK for me...." Nothing special - pretty good pepperoni pie..... very greasy. Quick delivery, but the guy taking the orders has an attitude that I don't really think is necessary....
Not too bad...the middle gets a little too thin for my liking, but it was a very good pizza. We had the Victor's Special - no olives on half. They also deliver, which helps us out on a hangover-Sunday. It was a little more expensive than what I originally expected, but worth the price. They do have a lot in the line of pastas too, so I am looking forward to trying some...maybe next Sunday!
Good pie. I agree with Rise G., gets a little thin but sauce is good and crust is also. Not the best pie in town but will do in a pinch. Also - the delivery guy showed up 20 min. after we ordered with our pie. That's a first in this town where the average wait is an hour. Had to tip him a full $5 for that and will call again soon.
My favorite cheese pizza by the slice. The sauce is neither sweet nor tangy...just perfect tomato sauce with herbs atop crispy thin crust. Don't bother getting toppings. Adding toppings before reheating does not meld the topping and cheese together. All my jalapeos fell off as I was walking and eating.

Every so often, i craveeeee & indulge in pizza. I tried the Hawaiian pizza with ham & pineapple & the supreme vegetarian. I prefer my pizza to be thin.... i mean extra-extra thin. The crust here is a little thicker than what i prefer, about a good .5" thick....that's way too thick for my tastes. This place is not bad.
The slices here didn't provide me my orgasm like Cheeseboard or Orgasmica usually do. In other words, i left disappointed...

Excellent pizza...the perfect amount of good tasting sauce, lots of cheese, lots of toppings, and a nice thin-ish crust that wasn't too chewy and folded very nice. Delivery was fast and the pizza was quite large. Next time I'm looking for some delivery pizza it will probably be from here.
I maintained my composure here in this this cozy Polk hood pizzaria even as I took a bite of the piping hot pizza, the sauce burning my throat the cheese welding it's self to the roof of my mouth.
After this mistake on my part I really enjoyed the food and the cola that helped me not die.
I'm never in this area but some friends swear by it so when I did find myself here with a hungry stomach and a a bit of time I sat down and devoured the pie right up!
