I'm not much of a beach bum, but I enjoy breathing in the fresh ocean air as much as I can.  I personally like Coronado beach for walking and La jolla Cove for late afternoon promenades.  Bird Rock is fun too for enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sunset; which beach is your favorite here and why?

Hmmm...I'm not really a beach person either. I'm not down with sand everywhere, sun in my face and dudes with tattoo sleeves and trucker hats who do nothing but drink Bud and play horseshoes.

That said, if I do go to the beach, I go down to Tijuana or Rosarito. You can camp on the beaches in Mexico. Beaches at night are just so much better. Bonfires, firecrackers (again, this can only be done in Mexico) and vendors selling you blankets and cigars.  It's just awesome.

I'm not much of a beach lover either.  I live near Imperial/Coronado beach so those are the beaches I frequent.  I like to go to the beach to run or workout.  I'm not much of a sun soaker because I tan very easily and in just a few minutes I'm toasty brown.   What appeals me to a beach is the mellow, low-key, and no one is there feel.

Ha! I did go to a beach in Mexico (Ensenada) and watched some people do firecrackers and almost blow themselves up.  Great times! A little scary, but fun none-the-less.

San Diego has over 70 miles of beach, and this topic has turned to the beaches in Mexico?

Yeah, beach isn't really my thing either. I'm not very buoyant, and I don't like not being able to see what's in the water.

I have the most experience with PB/Mission, and if it's nice enough to be at the beach, they're usually too crowded for my tastes.  But, as beaches go, they're fine: sand, ocean, and lots of nearby stores, restaurants and bars. The sand and the water at La Jolla Shores seem nicer, go figure.

Dog beach in OB is my usual destination if I'm headed to the beach these days.

My local beach is Cardiff and I love walking down there almost every morning with my wife and our dog Ruby. Not too many people running around down there @ 6:30am. It gives me time to just relax before it is time to head in to North County Gentrification Wars.

Two days ago I got a bit pissed off because I found the remnants of an oil spill going on and I saw no mention of it in the news. Perhaps it is time to do a bit of research.

Which of the beach communities is the best to live in?  Just wondering...I am trying to move to OB eventually...

It depends.  If you're looking for a hippie community, then O.B is the way to go.  Pacific Beach mostly gathers a young college crowd and has a lot of places to go out to on Garnet.  La Jolla shores is mostly inhabited by working professionals, and so is Del Mar with a more traditional upper-crust flair and a more mature crowd age-wise.
